Chers usagers des données ouvertes du SMC,

Depuis une dizaine d’années, la Division de la recherche en météorologie (DRM) d'Environnement et Changement climatique Canada développe une Réanalyse Canadienne de Surface (RCaS). Ce travail initié grâce à un financement de la Commission mixte internationale (CMI) dans le cadre de l’Initiative internationale sur les bassins hydrographiques (IIBH), se poursuit aujourd’hui sous l’égide du Programme d’identification et de cartographie des aléas d’inondation (PICAI).

RCaS a pour objectif principal de fournir des données horaires de surface et de précipitation continues dans le temps et dans l'espace couvrant l’Amérique du Nord sur une longue période (1980-2024) et à haute résolution (10km).

Ce jeu de données est régulièrement amélioré pour répondre aux besoins de différents programmes et partenaires. Désormais, les annonces concernant ces mises à jour seront communiquées via la liste dd_info afin d’informer les usagers des données ouvertes du SMC qui pourraient être intéressés dans l’exploitation de ces données.

Dear MSC Open Data users,

For the past decade, Environment and Climate Change Canada's Meteorological Research Division (MRD) has been developing a Canadian Surface Reanalysis (CaSR). This project, initially supported by funding from the International Joint Commission (IJC) as part of the International Watersheds Initiative  (IWI), is now continuing under the Flood Hazard Identification and Mapping Program (FHIMP).

The main objective of CaSR is to provide seamless hourly surface and precipitation data over time and space covering North America for a long period (1980-2024) and at high resolution (10 km).

Access to these data and detailed documentation of this reanalysis are available on this page:

This dataset is regularly improved to meet the needs of various programs and partners. From now on, announcements regarding these updates will be communicated via the dd_info list in order to inform users of MSC open data who may be interested in this data.
