Chers usagers du Datamart du SMC,

Ceci est un suivi de l’annonce envoyée le 7 mai 2021 (*) au sujet d’enjeux de lecture sur Windows et Mac via des outils tels que ArcGIS, OSGeo4W ou encore QGIS, des données de prévision numérique du temps en format GRIB2 (compressées avec JPEG2000) disponibles sur le Datamart du SMC.

Les développeurs de la librairie GDAL ont réglé ce problème à la source (**), une version mise à jour de cette librairie devrait être disponible au cours des prochaines semaines. Cependant, les outils cités ci-dessus intégreront cette correction a posteriori.

En attendant, pour tous les usagers qui pourraient être concernés, nous vous rappelons nos suggestions :

· Utiliser d’autres logiciels pour lire et traiter les données GRIB2, tel que wgrib2 (***) ou encore ECMWF eccodes (***).

· Récupérer les données brutes à partir de l’API GeoMet du SMC via le standard WCS. les formats en sortie actuellement supportés par le service WCS de GeoMet sont GeoTIFF, aaigrid, netCDF, png et jpeg. Voir ici : https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-geomet/readme_fr/#acces

Dear MSC Datamart users,

This is a follow-up to the announcement sent on May 7, 2021 (*) about issues reading on Windows and Mac the numerical weather prediction data in GRIB2 format (compressed using JPEG2000) available on the MSC Datamart with tools such as ArcGIS, OSGeo4W, QGIS, etc.

The developers of the GDAL library have fixed this problem at the source (**), an updated version of this library should be available in the next few weeks. However, the tools mentioned above will integrate this correction later.

In the meantime, for all users who might be concerned, we remind you our suggestions:

· Use other software to read and process GRIB2 data, such as wgrib2 (***) or ECMWF eccodes (****).

· Retrieve the raw data from the MSC GeoMet API via the WCS standard. The output formats currently supported by the GeoMet WCS service are GeoTIFF, aaigrid, netCDF, png and jpeg. See here: https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-geomet/readme_en/#access
