Chers usagers du Datamart du SMC,
Dans le cadre de la contribution de Environnement et changement
climatique Canada au Projet de prévision polaire (PPP)
international dont l'Année de prévision polaire est une des
initiatives phares (YOPP: http://www.polarprediction.net/yopp-activities/),
les données du nouveau Système régional de prévision
océan-glace (SRPOG), installé en mode expérimental en juin
2016, sont maintenant disponibles sur le serveur d'essai du
Datamart du SMC à l'adresse:
http://dd.alpha.meteo.gc.ca/yopp/model_riops/

Le domaine couvre une partie de l'Atlantique nord et l'océan
arctique au complet (voir image ci-jointe), et les données sont
interpolées sur une grille en projection polaire stéréographique
nord d'une résolution de 5 km à une latitude de 60°N.
Notez que les données en format NETCDF demeureront en ligne durant
toute la durée du projet YOPP, soit jusqu'à mi-2019 ce qui offre
une base de données exceptionnelle pour les usagers intéressés aux
régions polaires.
Finalement, nous rappelons que ce système est expérimental et
que des modifications peuvent y être apportées avec un très court
préavis . De plus, la disponibilité de ces données ne peut être
garantie au même niveau que celles disponibles sur le Datamart
opérationnel du SMC.
Le système sera bientôt couplé au système canadien de prévision de
l'Arctique (SCPA) dans le cadre du projet YOPP, et sera annoncé
via cette liste de diffusion.

Dear MSC Datamart users,
In support of Environment and Climate Change Canada’s contribution
to the international Polar Prediction Project (PPP) for which the
Year of Polar Prediction is one of the flagship initiatives (YOPP:
http://www.polarprediction.net/yopp-activities/
), the data of the new Regional Ice and Ocean Prediction
System (RIOPS), implemented in experimental mode in June
2016, are now available on the MSC Datamart testing data
repository at the address:

The domain covers parts of the North Atlantic and the whole Arctic
ocean (see image attached), and the data are interpolated to a
grid in north-polar stereographic projection with 5km resolution
at the standard parallel 60° N.
Please, note that the data in NETCDF format will be available on
line during the entire period of the YOPP project, namely until
mid-2019, which offers an exceptional data base for users
interested in Arctic polar regions.
We would like to remind that this system is experimental,
such that modifications may occur on relatively short notices, and
that product availability can not be guaranteed at the same level
as for an official operational system.
The system will be coupled to the Canadian Arctic Prediction
System (CAPS) in the coming months, in support of the YOPP
project, which will be announced through this mailing list.
