Dear GPSC user,

SSC HPC would like to relay the following message to our users. Note you may have received it from other channels.

In collaboration with Shared Services Canada and Labs Canada, the Federal Science Computing Working Group (FCSWG) seeks to address and overcome the IM/IT challenges that government scientists face. The FSCWG reports to the Genomics Research and Development Initiative (GRDI) ADM Coordinating Committee and comprises over 180 federal scientists, IM/IT subject matter experts, and policymakers.

Within the FSCWG, there are six active Task Groups, including a "Use of Linux and Mac Workstations" task group that aims to bolster support for federal scientists needing using Linux and Mac workstations (not servers) for research within the federal Science Based Departments and Agencies (SBDAs). To achieve this, they have developed a survey to understand the various levels of availability and support for Linux and Mac workstations.

To ensure the survey has a representative sample, we are seeking your assistance with completing this 5-minute survey and forwarding this email to people who are engaged in scientific work.  We would like to hear from those who have experienced challenges due to limited support for Mac and Linux, as well as from those who have benefited from strong in-departmental/agency support.

If you would like to know more, email yumna.khan@hc-sc.gc.ca to be added to the GCXchange page and receive Working Group meeting invites.
