Hi everyone,

 

We expect to be asked for information regarding NRC usage of SSC resources soon. Not clear on the scope and timeline, but I expect to be asked later today and to provide input by either tomorrow end of day or Monday – it could be a tight turnaround… thus yes, this is high priority. The goal from our (IHPCM) side is to demonstrate that we are a reliable large-scale infra provider, an effective parnter and we manage/deliver services to NRC efficiently in various circumstances.

 

In anticipation of this, could you please ensure that your usage stats are up to date and have data available and ready when asked? In particular:

 

• HPCLM (Marc):

• stats on usage of SSC-support NRC systems in Victoria (primarily CADC – storage, compute, number of physical and virtual systems, number of users if we have that handy) from now to 1-3 years ago if we have it
• stats on usage of SSC-supported NRC systems in SK – what Dustin is doing and using in terms of resources… though I am not sure we have access to this given they are run by NRC on SSC hardware. If you don’t have this info, we can go with what we expect in a new BR based on ongoing discussions as a proxy

• HPCO/HPCI:  

• GPSC usage on all clusters as well as allocations. Ideally even graphs or tables of usage comparing allocation to usage for NRC (does not need to be broken down by group – whatever is easiest) going back 1-3 years. Please include GPSCC but separate it from the GPSC (internal) stats.
• Can we show the growth in allocation and usage over time (even if two separate tables)? May have to look up BRs and trace their evolution, or if we keep track of time in the allocation spreadsheet (or use previous versions), it can be derived from that.
• Number of NRC users, storage usage etc

 

If you have other data that you feel would be helpful, please send me that too.

 

Please do not just send me graphs – please send me the data in CSV or Excel format (with graphs cut and pasted in, or produced via Excel if you’d like)… the graphs are usually helpful but in this case because we don’t know the exact data they want, we may need to slice and dice differently and I cannot do with with JPEGs and GIFs!

 

Thank you for your help and collaboration – I know it’s a ton of work, but it is really in our own interests.
