Chers usagers des données ouvertes du SMC,
Environnement et Changement climatique Canada (ECCC) rend maintenant disponible parmi son offre de données ouvertes, le produit MetNotes , de courtes notes rédigées par les météorologues qui précisent le contexte des prévisions météorologiques d’ECCC. Ces brefs messages peuvent inclure les impacts potentiels dus aux conditions météorologiques, un avertissement précoce sur les conditions météorologiques extrêmes ou de l’information pour préparer les personnes qui assisteront à des évènements extérieurs affectés par les conditions météorologiques.
Nos services web géospatiaux GeoMet-Météo du SMC (*) permettent à la fois de visualiser les polygones associés mais aussi d’obtenir le contenu de ces messages via une requête WMS.
Ces informations, déjà offertes au public via l’application mobile MétéoCan (**), sont aussi disponibles en format GeoJSON sur HPFX, le serveur alternatif du Datamart du SMC, à cette adresse :

Dear MSC open data users,
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is now making available as part of its open data offering, MetNotes product, short notes written by meteorologists that provide context for ECCC weather forecasts. These brief messages can include possible impacts due to weather, an early heads-up of severe weather, or information to prepare people attending outdoor events affected by weather.
MSC GeoMet-Weather geospatial web services (*) allow both to visualize the associated polygons and to obtain the content of these messages via a WMS request.
This information, which is already available to the public via the WeatherCan mobile app (**), is also available in GeoJSON format on HPFX, the MSC's alternative Datamart server, at this address:

Projet pilote de dissémination de données radar sur HPFX // Radar data dissemination pilot project on HPFX

Chers usagers des données ouvertes du SMC,
Dans le cadre de notre volonté d’ajouter les données radar parmi l’offre de données ouvertes, nous venons de lancer un projet pilote de dissémination de ces données sur HPFX<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Feccc-ms...> (avec mot de passe). Ce test, réservé à un nombre limité de participants, est organisé pendant une période de 5 mois uniquement couvrant la saison estivale alors que l’activité de temps significatif est importante. Il pourrait être arrêté à tout moment si un enjeu important surgit.
Voici les données qui sont disponibles :
· Produits radar 2D traités en format GeoTIFF:
* Données PRECIP-ET pour chaque radar canadien de bande C. Ce produit mesure le taux de précipitation instantané selon un algorithme de contrôle de qualité approprié aux radars de bande C.
* Données du nouveau produit EQPDP (Estimation quantitative des précipitations à double polarisation) pour chaque radar canadien de bande S.
· Données brutes 3D en format ODIM_H5 et IRIS:
o Balayages volumétriques pour chaque radar canadien de bande S et de bande C respectivement.
· Composite hybride radar 1km :
o Mosaïque calculée sur le domaine nord-américain avec une résolution spatiale horizontale de 1 km; c’est ce qui est déjà disponible sur GeoMet et disséminé sur Meteo.gc.ca et MeteoCan.
· Couverture radar dynamique :
o Affiche dynamiquement les données des zones couvertes par les radars toutes les 10 minutes (prochainement disponible aux 6 minutes).
Ce projet pilote va nous permettre de valider plusieurs aspects du dossier afin de poursuivre notre objectif ou de l’ajuster au besoin selon les éventuels enjeux qui en ressortiraient , le tout toujours dans l’optique d’offrir le meilleur service possible à tous nos usagers à travers le monde.
Ma question, très simple, est donc la suivante : seriez-vous intéressés à participer à ce projet réservé à un nombre limité d’usagers ? Cela signifie récupérer ces données sur une base régulière (via AMQP<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Feccc-ms...>) et me faire part de tout commentaire ou enjeu , que ce soit des enjeux de lenteur ou autre.

Dears MSC open data users,
As part of our desire to add radar data to the open data offering, we have launched a radar data dissemination pilot project on HPFX<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Feccc-ms...> (with password). This test would be organized during a 5-month period only covering the summer season when significant weather activity is important. It could be stopped at any time if an important issue arises.
The following data are available:
· Processed 2D radar products in GeoTIFF format:
* PRECIP-ET data for each Canadian C-band radar. This product measures the instantaneous precipitation rate using a quality control algorithm suitable for C-band radars.
* Data from the new product DPQPE (Dual Polarization Quantitative Precipitation Estimation) for each Canadian S-band radar.
· Raw 3D data in ODIM_H5 format and IRIS format:
o Volume scans for each Canadian S-band radar and Canadian C-band radar respectively.
· Hybrid composite radar 1km:
o Mosaic calculated over the North American domain with a horizontal spatial resolution of 1 km; this is what is already available on GeoMet and disseminated on Weather.gc.ca and WeatherCan.
· Dynamic radar coverage:
o Dynamically displays the data of the areas covered by the radars every 10 minutes (available shortly every 6 minutes).
This test would allow us to validate several aspects of the file in order to pursue our objective or to adjust it if necessary according to the possible issues that would emerge from it, always with a view to offering the best possible service to all our users around the world.
So my question is very simple: would you be interested in participating in this pilot project for a limited number of users? This means getting this data on a regular basis (via AMQP<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Feccc-ms...>) and letting me know your comments or any issues, be it slowness issues or others.
Please send me your answer before July 11, 2022. Of course, and as usual, I remain available for any questions or requests for additional information.

Dans le but d'améliorer continuellement nos services en matière de prévisions météorologiques et environnementales, Environnement et changement climatique Canada, en collaboration avec Services Partagés Canada, migrera vers une nouvelle infrastructure de super-informatique le mardi 28 juin 2022, à partir des passes de modèles de 12 UTC.
En termes de capacité de calcul haute performance, cette nouvelle solution entrainera une amélioration des performances par un facteur 2.5 par rapport à la solution précédente.
Bien que nous n’anticipions pas de problème technique majeur, nous invitons nos usagers à nous signaler tout enjeu potentiel suite à cette migration, via l'adresse dps-client(a)ec.gc.ca<mailto:dps-client@ec.gc.ca>. Un grand merci pour votre habituelle collaboration bien appréciée.

In order to provide continually improved weather and environmental prediction services, Environment and Climate Change Canada, in collaboration with Shared Services Canada, will be switching to a new high-performance computing infrastructure as of Tuesday, June 28th 2022, beginning with the 12 UTC model runs.
In terms of computing capacity, this new solution will provide a 2.5x increase in performance over the previous solution.
