(English follows) Chers usagers du Datamart, Le 15 décembre 2015, le Centre météorologique canadien (CMC) a procédé à la mise en œuvre du premier modèle de prévision opérationnel au monde utilisant l'approche dite Yin-Yang. Cette grille couvre la surface du globe de façon analogue aux deux pièces de cuir recouvrant une balle de baseball. Elle est constituée de deux configurations équivalentes du modèle à aire limitée (chacune très similaires au SRPD) juxtaposées de manière à couvrir le globe de façon complémentaire. Cette nouvelle configuration n’entraine pas, à elle seule, une amélioration de la qualité des prévisions, mais permet de se positionner efficacement vers les plateformes informatiques massivement parallèles du futur, dans un contexte d'augmentation de la résolution des modèles de prévision numérique du temps. En plus du SGPD, plusieurs systèmes de prévision ont été mis à jour, y compris le SRPD, le SHRPD, le SGPE ( données NAEFS du Datamart) et l'ARDP. Tous ces changements sont transparents pour les usagers des données GRIB du Datamart, puisque les produits conservent leur format antérieur. The Yin-Yang grid covers the surface of the globe in analogous fashion to the two pieces of leather covering a baseball. There are two equivalent configurations of a limited area model (each very similar to a regional model) juxtaposed to cover the full globe. This new grid is not responsible, in and of itself, for the improvement to the quality of the predictions. However it allows the CMC to effectively position itself towards the massively parallel computing platforms of the future, in the context of increasing the resolution of numerical weather prediction models. In addition to the GDPS, several forecast operational systems have been updated, including the RDPS, the HRDPS, the GEPS (NAEFS data on Datamart), and the RDPA. All of these updates are transparent for the Datamart GRIB users since the data format remains the same as previously.
