Il me fait plaisir de vous annoncer l'ajout de paramètres de vagues dans le Système global de prévision déterministe de vague (SGPDV)<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_gdwps/readme_gdwps_fr/>, le Système global de prévision d'ensemble de vague (SGPEV)<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_gewps/readme_gewps_fr/> et le Système régional de prévision déterministe de vague (SRPDV)<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_rdwps/readme_rdwps_fr/> disponibles sur le Datamart du SMC respectivement aux adresses :

Il s'agit des composantes U et V de la dérive de Stokes (USSD, VSSD), d'intérêt pour la modélisation de la dérive et de la direction moyenne des vagues du vent de la houle combinée (WWSDIR).

I am pleased to announce the addition of wave parameters to the Global Deterministic Wave Prediction System (GDWPS)<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_gdwps/readme_gdwps_en/>, the Global Ensemble Wave Prediction System (GEWPS)<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_gewps/readme_gewps_en/> and the Regional Deterministic Wave Prediction System (RDWPS)<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_rdwps/readme_rdwps_en/> available on the MSC Datamart at the following addresses:

These are U-component and V-component of the Stokes drift (USSD, VSSD), which are of interest for modelling drift and mean direction of combined wind waves and swell (WWSDIR).

Chers usagers des données ouvertes du SMC,
Fin juillet 2026 (date exacte à venir), une nouvelle méthode pour calculer les vents statistiquement post-traités du Système régional de prévision déterministe (SRPD)<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_rdps/readme_rdps_fr/>, via le système PROGNOS<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_rdps/readme_rdps-statpo...>, sera implantée.
Ce changement est motivé par un enjeu de performance des vents, actuellement générés via la méthode LASSO<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lasso_(statistics)>, lors d'épisodes de vents modérés à forts. L'approche LightGBM<https://proceedings.neurips.cc/paper_files/paper/2017/file/6449f44a102fde...> s'est avérée être la plus prometteuse pour remédier à ce problème de sous-performance, tout en offrant des performances adéquates pour les autres catégories de vitesse du vent.
Une conséquence directe de cette mise à jour est un changement dans les noms de fichiers des données de vent post-traités statistiquement à partir des données du SRPD disponibles à cette adresse :

Ainsi, les fichiers :

Dear MSC open data users,
At the end of July 2026 (exact date to be announced), a new method for calculating statistically post-processed winds from the Regional Deterministic Prediction System (RDPS)<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_rdps/readme_rdps_en/>, via the PROGNOS<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_rdps/readme_rdps-statpo...> system, will be implemented.
This change is driven by a performance issue with wind data, currently generated using the LASSO<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lasso_(statistics)> method, during episodes of moderate to strong winds. The LightGBM<https://proceedings.neurips.cc/paper_files/paper/2017/file/6449f44a102fde...> approach has proven to be the most promising for addressing this underperformance issue, while still delivering adequate performance for other wind speed categories.
A direct consequence of this update is a change in the filenames of the statistically post-processed wind data derived from RDPS data available at this address:
https://dd.weather.gc.ca/today/model_rdps/stat-post-processing/
Thus, the files:
{YYYYMMDD}T {HH}Z_MSC_RDPS-PROGNOS-LASSO_WindSpeed_AGL-10m_PT{hhh}H.json
will be replaced by:
{YYYYMMDD}T{HH}Z_MSC_RDPS-PROGNOS-LightGBM_WindSpeed_AGL-10m_PT{hhh}H.json
The documentation<https://eccc-msc.github.io/open-data/msc-data/nwp_rdps/readme_rdps-statpo...> will be updated accordingly. A sample is also available attached.
Please note that this data will remain available on GeoMet-OGC-API without any interruption in service.
